An extraordinary film directed by Achim von Borries, I couldn’t recommend it more. Music is White Gold by Metric Movie is Love in Thoughts (Can find the DVD at the website for cduniverse) (Or rather, you must!!) Love in Thoughts (Was nützt die Liebe in Gedanken) is a German film directed by Achim von Borries. It was released in Germany on 24 November 2004. The main characters are played by August Diehl, Daniel Brühl, Anna Maria Mühe and Jana Pallaske. Paul Krantz and Guenther Scheller are high school students who have just one thing in common: their desire to live life to its fullest potential, and die when it has reached its peak. The hunger for life is palpable in this moody period drama that runs the gamut of emotion, based on the events of 1927 that became known as the Steglitz Student Tragedy. Dreamy poet Paul comes from a working-class background, while the risk-taking Guenther is a wealthy playboy. The friends take a weekend trip to Guenter’s family summerhouse, where his charmingly bohemian sister Hilde is staying. Paul is immediately captivated by her, and the two share an intimate weekend before Hilde returns to the city, surreptitiously meeting up with Hans, a former lover of her brother’s with whom she is now involved. Meanwhile, the boys make a pact that, the moment they no longer feel any love, the will end their lives and take with them those who have stolen their love. Western Germany used to be a hotbed of talented modern artists, with the Rhineland producing the avant-garde likes of Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Joseph Beuys … as well as collectors.But after reunification Berlin also became capital of the German art scene. Now Cologne, Dusseldorf and other Rhineland cities are fighting to reestablish their credentials.

Les Haferflocken” are a Berlin Jazz-Band, but actually the member of the band are from France, Germany and Lituania. But I think this band mirrors what I call “The New German Art Scene” – also comprising other genre of art besides music. This NEW ART SCENE is very open and deep at the same time, it likes to experiment by mixing with different styles in a playful way – with a healthy dose of humour and self-irony.
